The Polish National Team goes to Bosnia
Participating in the World Championships is the culmination of a hard journey for every athlete. Anglers competing against each other share this goal. Every angler dreams of representing their country at an event of this magnitude, visiting unfamiliar fishing grounds, competing against the best of the best, and most importantly, donning the white and red jersey with an eagle on the chest and hearing the “Mazurek Dąbrowskiego.”
On May 18-19, 2024, the 21st Shore Spinning World Championships took place on the Kiseljak River in distant Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our team, practically right after the Polish Championships, went to these prestigious competitions. The fishing ground where the competition was held turned out to be very demanding, and not all teams managed to perform as planned. Even small mistakes in the planned strategy and individual errors by specific competitors determined their standings, and consequently, the overall team rankings.
Individual and Team Competition Results
The teams whose all members fished at a consistently high level triumphed, though every fish could have influenced the points awarded. The representatives of Italy performed best at this challenging event, securing both individual gold and silver, and consequently also standing on the highest step of the podium in the team classification.

- Davide Nedrotti (Italy) – World Champion
- Marco Ferracantena (Italy) – Vice World Champion
- Franjo Zovko (Bosnia and Herzegovina) – Second Vice World Champion

About the Polish Team
As for the Polish representatives, these were not the championships that will go down in our team’s history as particularly successful. It turned out, unfortunately, that to count on a good position, a strong performance from all team members is necessary. Unfortunately, this was very difficult to achieve. Our team placed 10th in the team ranking. The best Polish angler, Marcin Romańczuk, finished in 16th place. Tomasz Podkul was 20th, and Łukasz Panas came in 27th. The competitors who were the least fortunate were Mateusz Kwieciński and Radosław Śmiejkowski, who finished 70th and 73rd, respectively.
These competitions were not only a source of pride and honor for all the representatives. They were also a great learning experience for the already very experienced anglers. This competition showed how strong the world’s top spinning anglers are and how much the discipline of spinning fishing continues to develop.
