Leviathan 290 mm – Breaking the Barrier of Big Lures
Vertical/Pelagic Series lures quickly earned the trust of anglers and secured a permanent place in their tackle boxes. For a very simple reason. We love fishing this way ourselves, we know exactly what makes a great vertical lure, and we know how to create lures that bring success not only to us but also to a wide community of anglers. Feeling a strong sense of responsibility, we continue to push boundaries and show others that limitations exist only in our minds. Many anglers still have an internal “block” when it comes to using large lures, but we are here to prove that fishing with oversized baits is often fully justified. Quite often, only a relatively large lure can trigger enough aggression in a predator to make it commit to an attack. We spent a long time testing different concepts and solutions to ensure that the final result met all our expectations. We refined the length, shape, body proportions and material hardness to achieve maximum effectiveness on the water.
Leviathan Design and Action in the Water
The result of our work is a unique swallow-tail lure measuring nearly 30 cm and weighing 55 g. The entire lure is divided into four sections that work together as one phenomenally effective unit underwater. Despite its size, Leviathan responds even to the slightest rod-tip movement. In fact, even without moving the rod, the natural movement of the boat itself activates the lively action of its tail and body. The lure produces an enticing wave-like motion along its entire length and, when worked more aggressively, flashes and rolls to the sides like a weakened, injured fish. Naturally, proper rigging is important. We recommend systems with a screw-in weight mounted in the front section of the lure and flexibly attached treble hooks, ensuring that the lure retains its natural action. It is also worth remembering that large lures are usually inhaled head-first and attacks on such large prey are typically fast, powerful and decisive. The softness of the material used in Leviathan allows the lure to fold naturally inside the mouth of even a relatively small pike or zander.
Colors, Scents and the Hunt for Real Monsters
As with the other lures in this series, Leviathan is available in both natural color patterns and bold, aggressive fantasy colors. Each Leviathan comes in its own dedicated package, and the lure itself is unscented unless… you decide to boost its attractiveness with one of our nine excellent scent options. Don’t be afraid of large lures! When everything else fails, they are often the only way to avoid a blank day on the water, while at the same time offering a tremendous opportunity to selectively target true aquatic monsters. Be careful — the strikes can literally rip the rod from your hands!
